My quack is DON AYRES PONTIAC, in Ft Wayne, IN.B4 I got hurt,I worked there for 10 yrs.I drive a 93 Geo w/103K miles.Had it in for a "no start" situation. Was advised the next day,it needed as new radiator and a new battery just to find out what the real problem was.Was advised best thing was to JUNK it.Money spent in repairs would exceed value of car. They charged me $142 for the tow and diagnosis. I love the car and it gets 36 MPH, why the heck would I junk it. So,we bought a new battery at NAPA.The car started fine. Drove it the 9 miles back home from Ayres, opened the hood to find there was no alternator belt. Tech NEVER noticed that. That wasn`t even included in their 600+ estimate. Price was for a new radiator and battery. They wanted $42 just to install a battery, NAPA does that free. To make a long miserable story short, the alternator was defective. Again, NEVER mentioned. Napa tested the alt free, and sold me a new one. Car has been fine since that and the belt was replaced. That was 3 wks ago, hasn`t overheated one time, starts like a champ. Radiator isn`t bad, battery probably wasn`t bad. How could an ASE certified mechanic not notice a missing belt? And I even worked there!!! I am really angry about this entire episode.

Talk about some nice folk: it doesn't get any better than this. Not only are they good-as-gold on thier return and/or lifetime guarantees, but you're more than welcome to tear into your project right there in the parking lot. I know, I did some major water pump, radiator, and carb' work right there (on two seperate occasions). They even invite you to "clean up" in thier own restroom. Always cheerful, very professional, and eager to help. Hats off to you folks on 10th. St. with the first "4-Duck Complimentary" on Quacks-R-Us.

I have a "hats off" also for Auto Zone,i`d filed a bad quack report on Don Ayres Pont,Ind.After my horrible experience w/Ayres,my car limped to AutoZone. The Technician went above any beyond to help.Did a load test,in 80+ degree weather, on alternator, determined it defective.Searched hard to find me the correct one.Thought battery cable might also b a prob,so,he replaced that FREE,except cost of clamp. They really worked hard for me.My experience w/Auto Zone was good as my experience was bad w/Don Ayres. They have all my business from here on out.Kudo`s AUTO ZONE!!! Karma is proudly on your team!!!
